You and the Swedish Labour Market

You and the Swedish Labour Market comprises a series of three workshops related to labour market matters and is suited for those who are looking for a job in Sweden. All workshops include presentations, group work in breakout-rooms, group discussions and feedback sessions.

The workshops are held by Thomas Engel, EURES adviser at Arbetsförmedlingen, Swedish Public Employment Service.

We appreciate your preparation and active participation.

21 May, Session 1: Your labour market
The first session is about the Swedish labour market in general and the current situation in the Gothenburg region. We will provide a brief labour market outlook and you will learn more about shortages and surpluses. Furthermore, we will discuss different ways to find potential employers and relevant vacancies. Finally, you will develop ideas about how to approach Swedish employers and what to consider when applying for work.

4 June, Session 2: Your CV
The way you write an application varies from country to country. During the second session, we will discuss how to write a CV when you apply for work in Sweden. You will learn more about how to structure your CV and what language to use. Be prepared to share your CV with other participants, and both give and receive feedback on it.

18 June, Session 3: Your cover letter and interview
Applying for work is a two-way process. In your cover letter, you describe why you want to work for a certain employer, and what you think you can offer. The final workshop is about sharpening your cover letter, making it concise and focused on the task at hand. If possible, take with you a vacancy or job description of interest and the draft of a matching cover letter. Be prepared to share your letter with other participants, and both give and receive feedback on it. This session will be wrapped up by a discussion on how you can prepare for a job interview.

Register by sending your CV and Cover letter to contact@internationalhousegothenburg.com
