Gothenburg is a good place to enjoy outdoor adventures. Around the city and along the west coast there are 100´s of well marked and stunning hiking trails. You can either choose soft trails in mystic forests or rocky paths on the red cliffs next to the ocean. The possibilities are endless.
And yes, it is also possible to watch northern lights here on the Westcoast.
