Life science and tech - a love affair
Sector convergence, or collaboration between different sectors, is becoming more relevant in all markets. The convergence of different sectors and industries opens up exciting opportunities for established large companies, entrepreneurs and organisations that are open to innovative ways of working. One example is the successful “marriage” between the life science and tech sectors.
"The Gothenburg region is well positioned for this, with a strong tradition of collaboration between companies, academia and the public sector," says Kent Jellmund, investment advisor at Business Region Göteborg. “In addition, we have several active and prominent companies in life science and tech, especially in the automotive industry. It is this combination that makes Gothenburg an ideal location for sector convergence and new innovative solutions.”
Vitalis – true sector convergence
Gothenburg is hosting Vitalis, the Nordic region's leading conference and exhibition in eHealth and the future of health and social care. Vitalis brings together representatives from municipalities, regions, private healthcare providers, authorities, academia and industry. The event highlights the region's strengths in research and development, but also its strong position in tech and life science.
Business Region Göteborg is on site to network and facilitate new collaborations and establishments to the Gothenburg region.
On Wednesday 15 May at Vitalis, there will be an opportunity to listen to a panel discussion on how life science and mobility together create safer vehicles, urban environments and an enhanced quality of life. Volvo Cars and Astra Zeneca, together with Business Region Göteborg, will talk about the collaborations they have through new technology meeting life science in vehicles and mobility solutions. The panel will take place at the new Innovation Arena, an excellent meeting place for investors, startups, and innovators.
If you are on site, take the opportunity to book a meeting with our colleagues, or why not remember the day through an "insta-moment" in our Gothenburg stand!
The Economic Outlook Seminar - an added bonus
Business Region Göteborg arranges an Economic Outlook Seminar twice a year. This spring, in conjunction with Vitalis, we invite interested parties to the seminar at the Swedish Exhibition & Congress Centre on 16 May. After a presentation of the latest outlook and a live conversation with a prominent Swedish business leader in Life Science, you have the opportunity to visit Vitalis' exhibition space. Please note, that the seminar is held in Swedish.
Booking for the economic outlook seminar will be in our calendar here later in April.
