Programme for employers: Attract, recruit and retain international professionals

Finding the right competence is becoming increasingly challenging for many employers. Looking internationally can open up a much wider talent pool, but it can also raise new questions. Where do you find international professionals? How do you recruit fairly across cultures? What makes someone choose your company, and what makes them stay?

To support small and medium-sized companies in widening their talent pool and strengthening their ability to work with international professionals, Move to Gothenburg is launching Programme for employers: Attract, recruit and retain international professionals.

The programme combines free of charge, self-paced e-learning followed by practical workshops, giving you both the knowledge and the opportunity to put it into practice. It is designed for SMEs that want to explore international recruitment, improve how they welcome and retain international employees, or simply become better prepared for future competence needs.

Through the programme you will explore how to:

  • Reach beyond your usual recruitment networks when the competence you need is difficult to find locally.
  • Approach international recruitment with greater confidence and a clearer understanding of where to start.
  • Recruit in a structured and inclusive way.
  • Create a strong start for international professionals through thoughtful pre-boarding and onboarding.
  • Build workplaces where people can contribute, develop and choose to stay.
  • Use the strengths of being an SME, such as flexibility, closeness and faster decision-making, when competing for talent.

Part 1: E-learning- build your foundation

The e-learning takes you through the whole international talent journey, from identifying your competence needs and reaching a wider talent pool to recruitment, onboarding, retention and development. You will get practical guidance, concrete employer examples and tools that you can use in your own organisation.

Part 2: Practical workshops- from learning to action

The workshops are an integral part of the programme and build on what you have learned in the e-learning. Here, the focus moves from knowledge to practice.

The workshops also give you something that an online course cannot fully provide: the opportunity to learn from other employers. You will meet companies facing similar competence challenges, exchange experiences and hear how others are approaching recruitment, onboarding and retention.

Information and dates for the upcoming workshop series will be published soon on the Move to Gothenburg website.

Complete the programme and receive a diploma

When you complete both the e-learning and the workshop series, you will receive a diploma recognising your completion of the full programme.

The diploma reflects the commitment you have invested in strengthening your organisation's ability to attract, recruit, welcome, retain and develop international professionals.

More importantly, you will leave the programme with practical methods, new perspectives and concrete tools that can support your organisation well beyond the programme itself.
