Film Industry
Trollywood is the informal name for a film production facility in Trollhättan Municipality in West Sweden.
The movie studio Film i Väst centred in Trollhättan produces about half of the Swedish full-length films.
The high concentration of productions has led many cinematography-related businesses to establish their headquarters or branches in Trollhättan. They constitute an important part of fast-growing creative activities.
Gothenburg is also focusing heavily on film by increasing its financial investments. The city already offers favourable conditions for the film industry. A few examples are access to expertise in game development and visualisation, experience from both advertising and feature film production, and the Gothenburg Studios film production complex covering 10,000 square metres. Some 40 companies in the film industry work out of Gothenburg Studios.
This makes West Sweden an exciting area for creative talent.
