Location & connectivity

The city lies on the west coast. You can easily reach Gothenburg by flight, train, bus and ferry. The international airport Landvetter is located 20 km south-east of the city centre and from here you can travel to various destinations in Europe and the world.

The port of Gothenburg is the largest in the Nordic countries. The river Göta Älv runs straight through the city, and you can reach the archipelago islands in less than one hour from the centre.

Education & reserach

Gothenburg has an extremely well-developed educational system covering each stage: from preschools to universities.

There are preschools, international schools and Swedish schools offering the International Baccalaureate programme. It hosts two of the most popular institutes of higher learning and research universities in Sweden - the University of Gothenburg and Chalmers Technology University. There are around 50,000 university students here.
